At the end of the Second World War, the Daimler-Benz plants in Stuttgart and Sindelfingen were badly damaged. Nevertheless, car production started again in 1946. In that year, 214 passenger cars were completed. The new Mercedes-Benz 170 S was introduced in 1949. In contrast to the mixed construction with wooden bodywork of its predecessors, it was distinguished by an excellently finished all-steel body. This model remained in production until 1955 and was the first major post-war success.
Only 8,080 examples of our Mercedes-Benz 170 limousine were built between January 1952 and August 1953. The special technical features included better heating, the hypoid rear axle, camshaft drive with chain and a wider track. The classic car is an older restoration, with the current owner since 2004 and driven a total of approx. 19,000 km during this time. All service invoices are present. The classic ran reliably on many outings and rallies. In 2008, it also crossed the Alps twice on the country road over the Brenner Pass to and from Italy.
