In the spring of 1968 Daimler-Benz introduced the fastest German saloon in serial production, the Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3. A long body and chassis with air suspension build an ideal foundation and it masters the high torque perfectly which an engine it borrowed from the Mercedes 600. This high performance saloon made a splash worldwide and naturally its target customer audience was small. During its 4-year production period only 6,526 models were built, not unlike the similar 300 SEL 3.5 of which only 9,583 were made. But that’s a different story….
Our 6.3 was first delivered in Hannover (Germany) according to the Mercedes-Benz certificate. For the last years, it was owned by a Belgian classic car enthusiast who had it restored. This high end saloon also made successful long range trips, e.g. to the South of France. The Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3 will always be something very special!
