At the beginning of 1963 both the iconic Mercedes 300 SL as well as its unusual “brother” Mercedes 190 SL ceased production. Their successor, the Mercedes 230 SL, aka “Pagoda” was supposed to fix things. Compared to the 190 SL it was big progress but it could not replace the 300 SL. The series W 113 sold very well. Its continuous improvement and development kept the sports car modern for a long time. From January 1968 onwards the 280 SL was available with a renewed 2.8 liter engine. Experts agree that this model is the most balanced in the Pagoda series.
We assume that our Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was delivered in Europe, most likely in France. Its technology and chassis were overhauled. Since 2017 this classic car is registered with its current German owner. Its color combination of silver with black leather is a classic and is a perfect fit for a Mercedes 280 SL. This “Pagoda” is an uncomplicated, every day classic for you to enjoy!
