The Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1966 and was an instant favourite with the public. The manufacturer launched a competition to find a name and the winner was called ‘Duetto’. Despite the high price – comparable to that of a Jaguar E-Type – over 100,000 units were sold in 26 years of production. The ‘Duetto’ became famous through the film ‘The Graduate’ with Dustin Hoffman.
Of course, it was a red Spider in the film, just like our Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider (Duetto). There is still the letter of the first registration in Germany, September 1966. The classic car has always remained in the Hanover area. In the course of a major overhaul, the well-maintained classic also received a new engine from the Spider 1750 Veloce with more power. Since then, it has run around 55,000 kilometres with the current owner without any problems. You are looking at a classic car with future potential that is also suitable for long journeys.
