After the war, Borgward retained its three-brand strategy. The brands were therefore Borgward, Goliath and Lloyd. Initially, this was a wise move, as it meant the company received three separate allocations of materials from the occupying authorities. Later, however, this strategy proved too costly. In 1957, Goliath finally succeeded in moving away from the two-stroke principle. A remarkable four-cylinder boxer engine was introduced. Although ideal for front-wheel drive, the Goliath brand was still burdened by the image of the two-stroke era. Consequently, from August 1958 onwards, these advanced cars were given the brand name Hansa.

Our Hansa 1100 Coupé cost DM 7,425.00 at the time, which was a lot of money. Consequently, these classic cars are now very rare. This classic has been in a collector’s possession for over 30 years and is registered in Germany. From today’s perspective, the colour scheme is unusual, but it reflects the Zeitgeist of the time. It is likely to be difficult to find another Hansa 1100 Coupé in such fantastic condition.
