Few classic car enthusiasts are aware that New Triumph Cycle Ltd was founded in Coventry in 1887 by two Germans, Siegfried Bettmann and Moritz Johann Schulte. In 1923, the brand’s first car, the Type 10/20, was launched. After going into liquidation in 1939, Triumph became part of the Standard Steel empire. Its boss, Sir John Black, wanted to develop Triumph into a competitor to ‘SS’, later Jaguar. The Triumph T2 and T3 models were powerful roadsters that proved very successful. However, the successor to the ‘superstar’ TR3 had to be even better in every respect. Giovanni Michelotti designed the new bodywork with Italian flair, ensuring that the modern TR4 was an instant hit.
Our 1964 Triumph TR4 Roadster is a sought-after left-hand drive model. It was part of a batch of cars intended for restoration. A specialist firm took on the task and completely restored this sporty classic. Now it is ready for the big drive.
