The ‘small’ Rolls-Royce, represented by the Type 20 HP, was replaced by the 20/25 HP in 1929. This model was extremely successful, with 3,827 units being built. This made this series the most successful Rolls-Royce in the pre-war period. Many details were improved over the years. A large number of coachbuilders clad the chassis of the RR 20/25 HP, so elegant lines characterise this model.
Our Rolls-Royce 20/25 HP was delivered to Mr W. Clayton by Rippon Bros. on 12 June 1935 with the saloon body still in place today. Today, the classic car is registered in Germany with a historic licence plate. The classic from the year before last has a synchronised gearbox in 3rd and 4th gear, thermostatically controlled radiator fins and a continuously adjustable shock absorber rear axle. The engine and clutch have been completely overhauled. The bodywork and the entire interior are in good condition. This ‘little’ Rolls-Royce reflects the transition from the 1920s to the style of the ‘thirties’. It is a sublime experience to drive this classic saloon.
