In January 1934 Professor Ferdinand Porsche created the elements for a “peoples’ car”: a complete automobile, light construction, 4-seater, maximum speed 100 km/h. He received an order to built it and the test car V3 drove over 50,000 kilometers in 1936. An additional 30 cars drove over 2.4 million kilometers. Serial production, however, didn’t start until after WW II in December 1945 and initially Volkswagen only delivered to Germany’s allies. Its export, leading to its global success, began in August 1947.

Our “Ovali-Käfer” (“Ovali-Beetle”), first registered in Germany in 1953, is an standard model with cable drum brakes and was provided with export optics in the course of the restoration. Its gears 2, 3 and 4 are synchronized. Its dual lacquer make this classic car particularly charming and makes everybody happy!
