After the modern “fintail” limousines, customers were eagerly awaiting the new convertibles. These were to replace the exclusive but somewhat aged cabriolets of the Ponton series. At the IAA in Frankfurt in 1961, Mercedes-Benz presented the 220 SE b, the new open-top four-door model. Gorgeously beautiful, a complete success! As was customary at Mercedes-Benz, there was constant further development. From November 1967 the larger six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2.8 litres was used.
Our Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Cabriolet of the W 111 series was delivered to Oregon in the USA. Back in Germany, the classic car received a partial restoration, the fantastic leather remained original. The appearance is thus in German delivery condition. Since the thorough overhaul, the mileage is approx. 15,500 km. The dreamlike classic convertible is registered and ready for immediate use.
