American car design in the 1940s was a continuation of pre-war design since World War II did not stop car manufacturing in the US. But at the end of the 1940s the new modern ponton body types replaced the pre-war models. The integrated and subtle fenders are typical for this era.
Our Chevrolet Deluxe Fleetline with 6 seats still looks very elegant today and its expertly shaped fastback is striking. Interestingly, the fastback on the Bentley model R Continental looks almost identical which begs the question “Who was there first?” Most likely the Chevrolet! The sun visor, a typical accessory of the time, fits very nicely. To this day, this American classic is fit for long trips and affordable!
