In April 1955 Rolls-Royce brought out the Bentley S 1, technically identical in construction to the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I. These limousines were largely new designs. The proven six-cylinder engine was increased to 4.9 litres. The engine, which had been used by Rolls-Royce since 1922, was extremely reliable and quiet. 3,538 Bentley limousines were built. Of course the chassis could also be fitted with a special body. 121 of these were built, for example as Drophead Coupé S 1 by Mulliner.
Our Bentley S 1 Convertible was built to the same specifications from 2013 to 2015 as a reconstruction at a German specialist workshop. The lines of the body, supported by the two-tone paint, are ravishing. It is something special to drive across the country in this luxury classic car.
